April 1, 2024 – May 13, 2024
Artist Statement:
Paisley presents Audineh’s latest artistic exploration, drawing inspiration from American quilt and Persian weaving traditions, reflecting her Iranian American heritage.
Through a blend of materials and techniques including collage, acrylic transfer, embossment, sewing, and digital art, Audineh seeks to bridge cultural elements and transform traditional textile practices into contemporary expressions.
Her art delves into the significance of American quilts and Persian carpets as symbols of home, family, and community interconnectedness, while also creating a space for the interaction and expression of both cultures. Through this work, she offers a visual representation of the complexities and beauty of multicultural identity.
The exhibit title ‘Paisley’ references the motif that traces its origins from Iran to America, symbolizing cultural exchange and interconnectedness through textile art.
This exhibition also showcases Audineh’s series Woman Life Freedom, created in response to the civil unrest and protests against the government of Iran, to give visibility to the Iranian people risking their lives for change.
Join us for an Artist Reception April 11th from 5:30 – 7:00pm.
This FREE event is a part of West Seattle ArtWalk. Enjoy refreshments and meet Gallery Artist, Audineh Asaf.
